Safety Instrumentation and Control system design

The Instrumentation and Control (I&C) system is the brain and central nervous system of the power plant. Its purpose is to secure the production of electricity in a safe and controlled environment.
The instrumentation and control systems are adapted to the design of each reactor, the needs of utilities and the standards of the nuclear safety authorities in each country. It’s an extremely elaborate system that measures, monitors, checks, controls, communicates and protects the plant’s operations.
Their teams design, manufacture, install and maintain cutting-edge nuclear Instrumentation & Control (I&C) solutions ensuring the safety, availability and reliability of nuclear power plants throughout the world.
As part of the Instrumentation and Control design engineers, your mission will be to design, document and implement the I&C system of the nuclear power plant.

Tasks: 

• Design, documentation and implementation of Instrumentation and Control systems for nuclear power plants
• Implementation of the Safety I&C application software based on the function specification and concepts
• Validation and implementation of process engineering requirements
• Specification and clarification of technical and organizational interfaces in the scope of the contractual and technical framework
• Examination of system behavior of the chosen hardware platform running application-specific user software
• Continuous improvement of processes and technical solutions
• Participation to proposal activities for the scope of Instrumentation and Control system design

Required qualification:

• University degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation technologies, physics etc.
• Three-to-five years of experience in software development or systems engineering
• Fluent English knowledge (both written and verbal)
• Traveling within Europe mainly Germany and France is needed (approx. 12 weeks per year, flexible)
•  Organized and structured approach to work
• Willingness to learn and initiative of one's own
• Team- and communication orientated
• Basic programming skills (for example, Python)
• Resolute and decisive style of working

Desired attributes: 

• Experience in Safety I&C design, the related codes, rules and standards
• Experience working in international project teams
• Experience in nuclear industry is desirable but not essential
• Driving license
• German or French knowledge is appreciated
